Proceeds from NAMIWalks NYC directly help those living with mental illness realize their full potential, provide free support to families and demonstrate that recovery is possible. We make a visible difference in New York City by serving more than 12,000 people every year. Proceeds directly help NAMI-NYC Metro continue its activities by:
-Providing critical support to families and individuals impacted by serious mental illness and teaching advocacy skills to help families obtain quality treatment;
-Providing public educational programming for family members, consumers and providers;
-Expanding our existing programs, and developing new ones to meet the changing mental health needs of this dynamic and diverse city, including a partnership with the U.S. Veterans Administration to assist veterans of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families with courses and support groups at the Manhattan V.A. Hospital.
