Home Based Crisis Intervention (HBCI) provides an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization and/or placements for at risk children, ages 5-17. The 4 - 6 week program consists of Interventions conducted at the family's home or other natural setting, such as a park or library. Services include: 24 hour on-call coverage, family therapy, parenting skills, medication management, assertiveness and communication skills training, and referrals to community services the family may need. Admission Procedure: clients must be deemed 'at risk of psychiatric hospitalization' by a psychiatrist in order to be admitted to the program. A psychosocial and a psychiatric evaluation are required documentation for acceptance.
